Evaluation

For our 3D Animation project we had to create a 90 second stop motion animation. For this, I worked with my good friend, Amy :)

We created a music video for the song Queen of Hearts by We The Kings, a pop/rock Alternative band from America. They aren't a very well-known band but still have great music. They also don't have a music video for the song, so we had nothing to go on. However, both Amy and I knew exactly what we wanted to do.

For our animation we created a really cute, stereotypically romantic video to work side by side with the song, the genre of the music and especially the lyrics. Amy and I analysed the lyrics in order to determine what to animate and when to film it.

When we came to filming we used a webcam, a daisy chain of cables and dragon frame on an apple mac laptop. We suspended the webcam from the ceiling of our TV studio, laid down a black curtain on the floor to cover the area perfectly and began to film. Our two friends, Amy and Ed were our actors and did a great job, despite having to lay on a hard concrete floor for hours on end.

Weeks before we filmed, Amy and I drew and cut out hearts, crowns, rain drops and lightening bolts to paint and use in our animation. We wanted to create a cartoon effect with the huge cut outs we had created. It's a really cute animation, quite cheesy, but fitting perfectly with the lyrics and the audience that would watch and listen to the song.

On filming, we wanted to use a Sony A1 but due to a lack of cables we weren't able to do this. Luckily, the webcam worked really well, but we had to settle for a worse quality of footage. But it works and it still looks good. We also couldn't use the green screen or white card on the floor, so Amy and I had to remove one of the curtains from the TV studio to lay on the floor.

Overall, we created a really strong piece of work that I am really happy about.
